Actions Speak Winter Village

A little bit about the event:

On Sunday, December 4th, 2022, Actions Speak hosted a fundraiser for Cohen Children’s Medical Center. We raised money and collected items in order to create care packages for families who had children in the hospital. The fundraiser was held at Firemans Pavilion in Lindenhurst, and was a fun event for the whole family! We had a bunch of local vendors, including a bounce house, a video game truck, soft play area, a DJ, face paint, and tons of other small businesses! Each vendor came up with a fun activity for kids so that we could truly make a magical event for families! There was a raffle with over 40+ items donated from local businesses and family and friends. So many small businesses related to our cause, and donated their time to make this event a huge success!

OUR EVENT FLYER!

Why did we decide to do this?

Lauren, one of Actions Speak’s co-founders experienced first hand the fear and helplessness of having a child be admitted to the hospital in an emergency. On May 22, 2021, Lauren’s daughter, Lila, was admitted to Cohen Children’s Medical Center for a series of seizures at 5 months old. Naturally, Lauren and her husband Tom were solely focused on the health of their baby girl, and not on their own wellbeing. Lauren and Tom were fortunate to have a loving and generous support system who was able to bring the bare necessities to help them get through their exhausting, terrifying days.

But, what about those parents who aren’t as fortunate? Lauren witnessed families who had nothing; just the clothes on their backs. These families were experiencing every parents worst nightmare, while having to decide, do I leave my baby to get supplies for myself, or do I stay here and sacrifice those basic necessities?

Well, we knew we had to do something to help alleviate some of the stress for these families! We decided that creating care packages for parents who are going through this traumatizing ordeal was the best way to help. One of the main focuses of our business is family support, and we knew this was a way we could give back to our community and support those who were in need.

With the help of these vendors, our community and our family and friends, we were able to raise over $7,000 and create 160 bags for families in needs.
