WHAT IS MIND BODY OT?

This holistic approach to occupational therapy is provided by Actions Speak’s very own, Coach Lauren. During sessions, Coach Lauren uses her background in yoga, sensory integration and personal training to create individualized programs to address the specific needs of her clients and their families. The ultimate goal of Mind Body OT is to help improve her client’s quality of life and increase their overall independence.

WHAT TYPES OF activities DO CLIENTS ENGAGE IN DURING SESSIONS?

Mind Body OT for Kids integrates different mind and body practices to improve overall health and well being. Some activities included during these sessions:

  • Yoga

  • Obstacle Course

  • Therapeutic Sensory Based Activities

  • Writing

  • Mindfulness and Breath Work

  • Organizing/ Scheduling (executive function tasks)

  • Art

  • ADLs’s

WHO WOULD MIND BODY THERAPY BENEFIT?

Mind Body OT can be helpful for many conditions since it helps clients learn about/connect with their bodies, develop coping skills, develop overall strength/endurance, self regulation and other essential daily living skills. Some conditions it may help (but is not limited to) include:

  • Anxiety

  • Developmental Delays

  • Trauma

  • Sensory Processing Disorder

  • Depression

  • Executive Functioning Issues

  • Emotional Difficulties
